I have a hard time calling myself an "artist," so I prefer the term "visual comedian." I started painting bigfoot into landscape paintings that I found at thrift stores in mid-2012 as a joke to myself. With some urging from loved ones, I began showing at various places around OKC including Live on the Plaza, the Norman 2nd Friday Art Walk, The Mumford and Sons Guthrie stopover, the Honobia Bigfoot Festival, Coffee Slingers, and many more.
My paintings are supposed to be funny, and like any comedian, I just want people to laugh at my jokes. All of the paintings are found from thrift stores, and I add my characters into them. My art hangs everywhere from workplace bathrooms to lawyer's offices; from getaway cabins in Utah to children's bedrooms in OKC. I believe that art and creativity is something that should keep going and moving on, so even if a painting is thrown out or donated to Goodwill, it isn't finished.
As one person looking at my art said, "You make crappy art awesome."
